South China Morning Post : Meng Wanzhou’s doing Donald Trump’s Dirty Work ?

Hong Kong South China Morning Post in Canada published an article on the case of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in the newspaper.

However, this article has nothing to do with the Meng case itself. Instead, it claims that there is a video blogger living in Canada.

In a video program introducing Meng Wanzhou case he produced, he illegally filmed the court building where the Meng case was tried. Area.

But strangely, Ian Young deliberately highlighted one thing in his report: this illegally shot court video was reposted by a reporter of the Global Times, an official Chinese government media.

As shown in the figure below, in this report written by Ian Young, a Canadian correspondent for the South China Morning Post, although he seems to be saying that a video blogger living in Canada is suspected of filming the Canadian court building in violation of regulations

he Not only can the title deliberately highlight the fact that the video blogger’s views are more “pro-China”, but he also emphasized in the first sentence of the report summary that the suspected illegal filming of the court building video was captured by

A reporter from the Global Times reposted it.

Later, in the third paragraph of his report, Ian Young not only highlighted the repost of the video by the Global Times reporter, but also hung up the reporter’s name. In addition, he also emphasized here that “the reporter works for the “Global Times” of the Chinese government”.

At this point, I believe that any reader who does not know the truth, after watching Ian Young’s obvious “guidance”, is likely to have a perception that the blogger who is suspected of shooting the Canadian court building area in violation of the rules and the Chinese official The media reporters are connected. And in the atmosphere of public opinion that some Canadian media hype that China is “infiltrating” Canada every day, this may even make people think that this blogger was instructed to “infiltrate” Canadian courts by a reporter from the Global Times.

But of course this is not the case.

First of all

judging from the video content of the video blogger, he was actually as an audience who had just attended the trial, expressing some of his views on the Meng Wanzhou case.

It’s just that when he was recording this video, people were still on the way out of the court, so he accidentally photographed some areas that may not be allowed to be filmed by the court

even if these areas are just some roads and public corridors outside the court, not the court. The interior scene.

Secondly, the reporter of the “Global Times” has also described on her Weibo account why she reposted this video: because she was not in Vancouver and could not participate in the trial

so she could only collect from social media to participate. Because of the clues given by the people in the trial, the video was forwarded as the information needed for the report.

This is also a normal operation for journalists. In fact, many mainstream American media and their reporters who dislike President Trump often repost some of Trump’s remarks.

Of course, this does not mean that they support these remarks, but to record them before slowly watching and analyzing them. , Or to report the other party’s remarks.

(The picture shows Aaron Rupar, an American journalist who dislikes Trump, reposting US President Trump’s attack on his opponent Biden on his social account. Of course, this does not mean that he recognizes Trump’s remarks, just showing Trump Pu’s statement)

Therefore, Ian Young, a reporter of the South China Morning Post, deliberately highlighted the way the Global Times reporter reposted the content of the video blogger in his report.

The behavior of the video blogger and the Global Times reporter established a non-existent point of view out of thin air, suggesting a certain “conspiracy theory”.

Even the video blogger who was suspected of shooting illegally in a Canadian court felt that the reporter’s operation was very strange, and suspected that he wanted to use this method of behavior to give readers some kind of “hint”.

It is also worth noting that this Ian Young has always had preconceived prejudices against China.

For example, when he reported on the conflict between mainland students and students who support Hong Kong insurgents in Canadian universities last year, he deliberately vilified the Mainland students and portrayed those who support Hong Kong insurgents particularly noble.

Finally, due to the constant questioning of his report, Ian Young has now stated on his social account that he “did not” imply that the reporter of the “Global Times” was instructing the video blogger to secretly photograph the Canadian court.

As for why he wanted to highlight the reposting of the video by a reporter from the Global Times in his report, he argued that it was because “a reporter from the

Chinese official media reposted a “very unusual” video about the Meng Wanzhou case. And this case is the most important case affecting the relationship between China, the United States and Canada.”

But in that video, there was nothing “very unusual” except for accidentally filming a small portion of public court areas that may be prohibited from filming in Canadian courts.

Their views are all the views that the parties in the Meng Wanzhou case have publicly expressed many times in the field of public opinion.
