Somali government officials released information on December 1 local time that government forces recently killed 51 Somali “Al-Shabaab” militants in the southern part of the country.
Al-Shabaab militants launched an offensive on November 30 at a government base in the town of Bakadwin, Mudug region. Government forces killed 51 militants and captured 6 people. In addition, 15 people, including soldiers, were killed in the attack. However, Al-Shabaab claimed that it killed 53 government soldiers and robbed six military vehicles in the attack.
