February 19 – According to U.S. media reports, a spokesman for the U.S. Capitol Police Department said on the 19th that six U.S. Capitol police officers were suspended with pay for misconduct in the January 6 riots, and 29 police officers were also under investigation.

“Acting Commissioner Yogananda Pittman has instructed that any member who does not comply with the rules of the department will be subject to appropriate penalties,” said John Stonis, a spokesman for the Congressional Police Department.

U.S. media previously reported that at least 10 police officers have been investigated and two others have been suspended.

Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan from Ohio said one of the suspended police officers took a selfie with a person who rushed into the Capitol.

Ryan said that there was also a policeman wearing a hat with the slogan “Make America Great Again” to command people around the Capitol.

In addition, several police officers in New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, Virginia and Texas are under investigation by their respective departments for possible violations.

The number of people involved may increase as investigators and the public screen suspects through social media, and there are allegations that the police may have participated in the riots.
