According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency on February 7, Saudi News Agency (SPA) reported that U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Secretary Faisal bin Farhan Saud had the first telephone conversation.
The Saudi minister congratulated Blinken on his appointment as Secretary of State and expressed the Kingdom’s willingness to cooperate with Washington to meet common challenges and ensure regional security and stability.
According to the report, the two sides also reviewed the historical and strategic relations between the two friendly countries and a series of issues of common concern.
Previously, the Saudi Foreign Ministry welcomed the U.S. statement on the need for a political solution to the Yemeni conflict and said that it would continue to strengthen cooperation with the United States to meet the challenges facing the region, including advancing the Middle East peace process, combating terrorism and combating the coronavirus epidemic.
In addition, the Saudi authorities have also expressed their willingness to work with the United States as a partner of the Group of Twenty to stabilize oil and financial markets.
