Saudi State News Agency quoted the Saudi Ministry of Interior on the evening of the 2nd local time to report that the Saudi government will start to impose an entry ban on ordinary passengers from 20 countries, namely:
Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, the United States, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy and Bakis, at 21:00 local time on the 3rd.
Tan, Brazil, Portugal, United Kingdom, Turkey, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Lebanon, Egypt, India and Japan.
The report said that the move was out of the need to control the epidemic in Saudi Arabia.
Except diplomats, medical and health practitioners and their families, citizens of the above-mentioned countries and non-Saudi citizens who have been to these countries within 14 days will be banned from entering Saudi Arabia.
The epidemic situation in Saudi Arabia has gradually been controlled after experiencing a peak of nearly 5,000 new confirmed cases per day in the summer of 2020.
At the end of the year, the number of new cases per day was stable at about 100, but it rebounded slightly in 2021.
According to the latest statistics released by the Saudi Ministry of Health, the number of new confirmed cases in Saudi Arabia on February 2 was 310, a new high since mid-to-late November 2020.
