Saudi Arabia and Iraq reopened the Al Al Port on the 18th local time. This is the first time the two countries have officially reopened this important border port after 30 years.

On the same day, many trucks lined up at the Al Al Port for passage.

It is reported that after the reopening of the Al Al Port, it will also be open to trade in people and goods.

Iraqi officials hope that reopening the port can help investment and trade

Increase employment in Iraq, and inject vitality into the Iraqi economy that has been hit by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Saddam regime in Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, Saudi Arabia and Iraq severed diplomatic relations, and Al Al Port was closed accordingly.

Thereafter, this port was only temporarily opened during the annual Hajj.

Analysts believe that behind the improvement of relations with Iraq is Saudi Arabia’s desire to draw Iraq closer to itself in the game with Iran.

The Iraqi side hopes to open up new ports to open up new trade channels.
