Russian President Putin: The United States builds a biological laboratory in Ukraine to study the spread of the virus

May 16th 2021, Russian President Putin said at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization that Russia had collected documentary evidence of the existence of American biological laboratories in Ukraine, which were established by the United States to study the spread of the virus.

Russian President Putin: The Pentagon (in Ukraine) has established a number of biological laboratories, which is by no means to provide medical assistance to the local population. Its main task is to collect biological materials in order to study the spread of viruses and dangerous diseases.

Russia said in early March this year that it had found 30 biological laboratories in Ukraine, which operated on the orders of the U.S. Department of Defense and may involve the manufacture of biological weapons. According to the seized documents, on the day of the Russian military operation against Ukraine on February 24 this year, these laboratories received orders to “emergencyly destroy” the pathogens of plague, anthrax, cholera and other deadly diseases.

Russia accuses the United States of violating the Biological Weapons Convention and plans to launch an international investigation within the framework of the United Nations.

On the 16th, the Commission of the Russian Federation and the State Duma’s Commission of Inquiry on the Activities of the United States in the Biological Laboratory in Ukraine met. Kosachov, Vice Chairman of the Council of the Russian Federation, said that the information received by the Committee confirmed that the United States and Ukraine had violated the United Nations Biological Weapons Convention, and Russia planned to advocate for the launch of relevant international investigations within the framework of the United Nations. Jarovaya, Vice President of the Russian State Duma, said that the United States and Ukraine have provided incomplete or inaccurate information on the implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention over the past five years.

With 336 biological laboratories in 30 countries around the world, the United States is the most biomilitary active country in the world and the only country that has used biological and chemical weapons in many wars. Although the United States has acceded to the Biological Weapons Convention, it has always opposed the establishment of a multilateral verification mechanism.
