Russian Foreign Ministry criticizes the U.S. for setting up barriers for Syrian refugees to return home
On the 19th, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova stated at a regular press conference that the International Conference on Syrian Refugees held in Damascus, the Syrian capital last week, was obstructed and boycotted by the United States and some Western countries.
Zakharova said, “The criticism of this meeting by the United States shows that it still implements a policy of preventing Syrian refugees from returning to their homeland. We regret this non-constructive policy implemented by the US State Department.”
The International Conference on Syrian Refugees was held in Damascus from November 11th to 12th.
On the 12th, the participating parties adopted a joint declaration. The declaration stated that all parties support Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
All parties firmly believe that the Syrian issue cannot be resolved by force. It can only be resolved through political channels within the framework of the United Nations.
