April 13th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov visited Iran and held meetings with Iranian President Rouhani and Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif on hot issues such as the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue and the regional situation.

The two sides stressed the strengthening of cooperation and urged the United States to lift sanctions.

During the meeting, Rouhani expressed Iran’s willingness to further develop bilateral relations and regional cooperation with Russia, with the strategic goal of establishing regional peace and stability, and taking action to resist unilateralism and interference in regional affairs of the United States.

Rouhani stressed the need for Iran and Russia to continue to develop defense and military cooperation.

In addition, he mentioned that Iran appreciated Russia’s position on the Iranian nuclear issue and its support for nuclear negotiations. Rouhani stressed that efforts should continue to maintain and restore the Iran nuclear agreement, and the “extreme pressure” policy imposed by the United States on Iran has failed. The only way for the United States to return to the Iran nuclear agreement is to de-establish Iran. Iran expects all parties to the Iran nuclear agreement to effectively fulfill their commitments and responsibilities.

Lavrov said that Russia and Iran have common goals in regional and international cooperation, and the two sides will further strengthen cooperation. There are no restrictions on Russia’s cooperation with Iran in the field of technology and defense.

In addition, he mentioned that Russia believes that the unconditional return of the United States to the Iran nuclear agreement through the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 2231 is the only way to solve the Iranian nuclear issue. There is no reason for the United States to require Iran to accept new conditions within the framework of the Iran nuclear agreement or allow Iran to fulfill more obligations beyond the framework of the Iran nuclear agreement.

Lavrov stressed that any other relevant regional or military issues can be considered separately in the presence of regional countries outside the framework of the Iran nuclear agreement to ensure security in the region and the Persian Gulf.

Iranian Foreign Minister: Israel has made a “bad gamble”

During his meeting with Zarif, Lavrov said that the political dialogue between the two countries was orderly and constructive, and he called on the relevant parties to the Iran nuclear agreement to resume the implementation of the content of the Iran nuclear agreement.

Regarding the regional situation, Lavrov said that Russia has put forward the Persian Gulf Overall Security Initiative, and Russia has always believed that regional differences can be properly resolved through comprehensive dialogue, mutual respect and consideration of the interests of all parties.

Zarif said that the United States should realize that sanctions and sabotage are not tools for negotiation, but only make the situation more difficult.

In response to the recent deliberate destruction of Iran’s Natanz nuclear facilities, Zarif said it was a “bad gamble” – he said that the enemy tried to weaken the efficiency of negotiations related to the Iran nuclear agreement in this way, but in fact allowed Iran to legally use all Natanz’s production capacity to respond.

Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif: If Israel believes that they can prevent Iran from seeking the lifting of sanctions, they need to know that they have made a “bad gamble”. If our findings show that Israel is responsible for this, they will receive a response. They will know how stupid they have done.
