January 19 According to a report by Russian satellite network, the judge of the court of Shimki City, Moscow Oblast, Russia, decided to arrest Navalny, a Russian opposition personage, at a court hearing held by the city police station for a period of 30 days.

Defence counsel Vadim Kobzev tweeted: “Aleksei Navalny will be held in custody for 30 days until February 15, 2021.”

The court will hold a hearing on January 29 whether to commute Navalny’s probation to actual sentence.

On January 17, 2021, Russian opposition Navalny returned to Russia from Germany according to the date he announced in advance.

The Moscow General Directorate of Punishment of the Russian Federation said later on the same day that Navalny was detained at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.

The Executive Bureau of Punishment of the Russian Federation confirmed on January 14 that Navalny had been wanted at the end of 2020 for maliciously violating the probation.

After arrest, the court should rule on the issue of probation.

On August 20, 2020, Navalny suddenly fell into a coma on the way to Moscow, suspected of poisoning, and then the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk.

Local doctors said that no traces of poison were found in Navalny’s body.

Navalny was later taken to a hospital in Berlin, Germany, for treatment.

During the treatment, laboratories in Germany, France, Sweden and other countries confirmed that Navalny was attacked by “Novichok”-like nerve agents.
