by YCPress

May 17, russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Russia proposed the resumption of regular meetings of the chiefs of staff of the Armed Forces of the Arctic Council and proposed that a meeting at the level of military experts could be held first.

Lavrov said the mechanism for regular meetings of the chiefs of staff of the Armed Forces of the Arctic Council had worked, but the West decided to suspend it about seven years ago.

Lavrov noted that in order to improve the predictability of the situation and reduce military risks, Russia proposed to restore the mechanism. As a first step, meetings at the level of military experts from Arctic Council countries could be held first.
