WHO Director-General Tan Desai said at a press conference on the 16th that the preliminary results of the WHO “Solidarity Experiment” showed that Redecivir and interferon programs are basically ineffective or effective in reducing the mortality of critically ill patients or reducing the length of hospital stay.

Very small, related papers will be published in authoritative journals later. According to media reports, U.S. President Trump had used remdesivir and other drugs after being infected with the new crown virus.

Tan Desai said that the northern hemisphere will usher in winter, and the number of Coronavirus diagnoses is increasing rapidly, especially in European countries. The number of new confirmed cases every day is almost three times the peak of the epidemic in March this year.

Tan Desai said that there are about 3.5 million severe influenza patients worldwide each year, and about 650,000 deaths from respiratory-related diseases.

The simultaneous epidemic of influenza and Coronavirus will pose a huge challenge to the health system, and comprehensive measures must be taken, including influenza vaccination. It is especially recommended to vaccinate flu vaccines for pregnant women, people with underlying diseases, the elderly and children.

Real-time statistics from the World Health Organization show that as of 16:11 on October 16th Central European Time , the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus reported globally increased by 383588 compared with the previous day, and the number of confirmed cases worldwide exceeded 38.78 million.

Reaching 38,789,204 cases; the global report of Coronavirus deaths exceeded 1.09 million, reaching 1,09597 cases, an increase of 6,007 cases from the previous day.
