January 29 According to the New York Daily News, American Airlines drove 20 passengers on board a plane on the 24th, citing that they violated the mandatory mask wearing when boarding at Salt Lake City International Airport in Utah.
The family expelled from the plane included 10 adults and 10 children between the ages of 3 and 13.
One of the passengers, Scott Wilson, said everyone in his family wore a mask all the way, and although one person accidentally dropped the mask under his nose, the man quickly corrected the mistake.
He said that passengers in the same line and the staff at the boarding gate saw what happened. These people were on his side with his family and accused the captain of treating them unfairly.
It is reported that the family flying to Dallas was eventually forced to board different flights because of protesting the airline’s decision.
American Airlines said in a statement on the 27th that the airline has established mandatory regulations requiring passengers to wear masks correctly, but these passengers were reported to have “not complying with the regulations”.
Since spring 2020, American airlines have required wearing masks onboard and at airports.
