Nokia announced on December 28 that in a three-year agreement, it has been selected as its first 5G operation partner by dtac, a subsidiary of Thai mobile operator Telenor Group, covering northern and northeast Thailand.

Through this deal, Nokia played a key role in ensuring that dtac’s network performance is fully prepared for 5G and to launch new 5G services faster as demand grows.

Nokia, which has deployed 2G, 3G and 4G networks in Thailand for over 30 years, will now offer 5G connectivity to support the country’s digital efforts as part of its “Thailand 4.0” economic strategy.

Deployment is expected to begin later this year and is expected to be completed in 2022.
