New Zealand lowers its response level to the coronavirus pandemic

by YCPress

February 17 The New Zealand government announced on the 17th that the country’s response level to the national coronavirus pandemic was downgraded after 23:59 that night, and Oakland, the largest city, ended its 72-hour third-level response state.

The latest notification released by the New Zealand Ministry of Health on the 17th said that the pandemic response level in Auckland has been downgraded to level two, and the rest of the country has been downgraded to level one.

Previously, due to three confirmed cases of community transmission, Oakland entered the third-level response equivalent to “lockdown” from 23:59 on the 14th, and the other regions entered the second-level response.

New Zealand’s Ministry of Health’s bulletin on the same day showed that there were two more confirmed community-borne cases on the 17th.

The five known cases of community transmission are epidemiologically linked and all in a home-at-home isolation state, with a low risk of continuing to expand infection, said Ashley Bloomfield, director-general of the New Zealand Health Ministry. However, there are also experts worried that the source of community transmission has not been found so far.

Previously, the New Zealand government had revealed that the first batch of coronavirus vaccines arrived in New Zealand on the morning of the 15th, with a total of 60,000 doses, which could be vaccinated against 30,000 people.

It is planned that from the 20th, about 12,000 border workers will be vaccinated first.
