Nepotism! former leader of Conservative Party of Canada was revealed to have hired his wife and sister to serve in his constituency office while serving as Speaker of House of Representatives

On the 17th local time, the former leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Andrew Scheer, announced that he had decided to stop hiring his wife and sister to work for his constituency office.

According to local media reports, this is not the first time Hill has done this kind of “fertile water does not drain outsiders’ fields,” nor is it the most serious.

Between 2008 and 2012, Hill, who was the leader of the Conservative Party and was the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, had his sister Anne Marie Grabetz work in his district office. Hill’s office confirmed that Hill only let his sister leave his district office after the Federal House of Representatives introduced regulations prohibiting members of Congress from hiring family members.

It is reported that Anne then transferred to the office of a federal senator, who was also a good friend of Hill.

Regarding the hiring of his wife and sister Erica Honoway in his constituency office, Hill said via email that he had reported to the Federal Conduct Commissioner before hiring her.

but he admits that just doing so is not enough, and some people still worry about conflicts of interest.

Canadian parliamentarians have offices in their constituencies, and related expenses are paid by the government.
