May 6 2021, The results of the parliamentary elections in West Bengal, India, were announced Tuesday, local time, russian Sputnik news agency 2. According to the Indian Federation for Democratic Reform (ADR) reported on the 5th, the state parliament 49% of the elected people have a criminal record, about 142 people.

The results of the West Bengal parliamentary elections were announced on 2 May. The grassroots Congress party, led by Mamata Banerjee, won a landslide victory with 213 of the state’s 292 seats;

Nearly 51 percent (39) of BJP elected and 34 percent (73) of Congress party elected have criminal records, including murder, kidnapping and rape, according to a report released Friday by the Indian Federation for Democratic Reform, India’s election monitoring committee.

Of these, 10 were charged with murder, 30 with attempted murder, 20 with participation in crimes against women and one with rape. Another 20 elected persons, although not charged with serious crimes, were also involved in cases of property disputes, contempt and defamation.
