by YCPress

According to the Namibian local media Naren, the Namibian Ministry of Education announced that it would postpone the opening of schools from January 11 to January 26 due to the rapid spread of the second round of the epidemic.

The Namibian Teachers’ Union and the Private Schools Union welcomed this, and some teachers will return to school on January 14.

More than 20 teachers have died since the outbreak of the epidemic.

In September 2020 alone, 732 of the 9,818 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were involving teachers and students in 12 provinces.

However, some parents of students complained that delaying school leaving students at home would aggravate the family’s economy. Help stress.

Infectious disease experts said that because of the fragility of Namibia’s educational foundation, schools have become the hardest hit areas for the spread of the epidemic.

Teachers’ unions and private schools call on the state to pay more attention to epidemic prevention in schools.
