Myanmar military extends ceasefire until February 28

by YCPress

January 28, local time, the Myanmar National Defense Force Command issued a statement announcing that all military operations would be suspended nationwide from February 1 to 28, except for carrying out defense and management tasks.

The Myanmar military also said that in order to advance the peace process and prevent and control the epidemic, the government forces have also established a military peace negotiation committee, and called on domestic organizations and individuals to actively participate in the peace talks to achieve permanent peace.

This follows a statement issued by the Myanmar military on 9 May 2020, announcing the implementation of the ceasefire from May 10 to August 31, and has been extended several times since then.
