Myanmar ended its eight-hour-a-day policy of disconnecting the internet

by YCPress

Since 27 April, Myanmar has ended its eight-hour policy of interrupting internet services from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. every day, which began on 15 February and has been implemented for a total of 71 days, during which time many difficulties have been created for the lives and work of large numbers of residents.

On 14 February, the Myanmar National Governing Council indicated that, in accordance with article 77 of the Myanmar Communications Act, the policy was initiated in the event of an emergency in order to protect the public interest.

But so far, Myanmar’s mobile communications network, which has been disrupted since March 15, and mobile broadband services, which have been disrupted since April 1, have not recovered.
