Morocco has reported two cases of infection with a new strain of the coronavirus found in India

Morocco’s Ministry of Health announced on May 3rd local time that it had confirmed two cases of new coronavirus strains found in India in Casablanca. This is the first time the country has reported an infection of a new strain of the coronavirus variant found in India.

The two confirmed persons were a foreign resident and a foreign citizen, the statement said. At present, two patients and those in close contact with them have been isolated.

Morocco has suspended all flights to and from India and the Ministry of Health will continue to closely monitor the latest developments in the outbreak and inform the public in a timely manner.
