New Delhi, February 2 India’s Capital Region Health Minister Satyandra Jayin posted on social media on the 2nd that the latest serum antibody test for the novel coronavirus in the Capital Region shows that 56.13% of the residents in the region have tested positive.

However, he said that it was still not appropriate to discuss herd immunity at present, and advised residents to abide by the sanitary requirements for pandemic prevention.

Jia Yin said that residents in the southwest region of the capital have the highest positive rate for COVID-19, at 62.18%, while residents in the northern region have the lowest positive rate for antibodies, 49.09 percent.

In the fifth round of serum antibody testing conducted in the Capital Region from January 10 to 23, researchers collected more than 25,000 serum samples.

This is the largest serum antibody test conducted by the New Delhi Municipal Government so far.

The city government of New Delhi and the National Center for Disease Control of India conducted the first round of serum antibody testing from June 27 to July 10, 2020, when researchers collected more than 21,000 serum samples for testing, and the results showed a positive rate of 23.48 percent for COVID-19 antibodies.

The next three rounds of testing conducted last August, September and October showed 29.1%, 25.1% and 25.5% of the tested positive rates for COVID-19 antibodies.

Unlike nucleic acid testing, which aims to confirm whether the human body is infected with COVID-19 at the time of testing, the main function of antibody testing is to confirm whether the person tested has been infected with the virus.

India is the second most serious country in the world with the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the latest pandemic data released by the Ministry of Health of India on the 2nd, there have been 8,635 new confirmed cases in India in the past 24 hours, with a total of 10,766,245 confirmed cases; 94 new deaths and 154,486 deaths.
