More than 500 million Facebook users of social media in the United States have been leaked, including telephone numbers, emails and other information. Russian media said that the phone number of Facebook founder Zuckerberg was also leaked.
According to Business Insider, a low-level hacker forum exposed the personal data of 533 million Facebook users in 106 countries on the 3rd. The leaked information includes Facebook ID, user’s full name, location, birthday, profile and email address.
The Russian Satellite News Agency reported on the 4th that the leaked 533 million Facebook user data contains some celebrity information, including Zuckerberg’s phone number. It is reported that the leaked phone number is consistent with Zuckerberg’s real number.
Garr, chief technology officer of cyber criminal intelligence company Hudson Rock, first discovered a Facebook user data breach, confirming that at least part of the content is true by comparing information about people he knows.
Facebook said in a statement on the 3rd that the above data came from the information leak in 2019, which had been repaired in August of that year.
Facebook has leaked user information more than once. In March 2018, a British company called Cambridge Analytica was exposed to improperly obtain 87 million Facebook user data.
Zuckerberg admitted responsibility for the incident and apologized. Subsequently, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission investigated the matter and fined Facebook $5 billion.
