According to a report by the Morning Times of Catalonia on the evening of April 12, the education department of Catalonia released data on the same day: As of April 12 local time, 15,991 students in the region had been isolated because they tested positive for the novel coronavirus or were close contacts of infected people.

accounting for 1.11% of all students in the region, the number of quarantined students showed an upward trend for four consecutive days. Compared with the data on April 10 local time, the number of quarantined students in the region has more than doubled.

Since the start of the new academic year on September 14, 2020, a total of 66,414 students, teachers and other education staff in Catalonia have tested positive for COVID-19.
