According to the official data of the Mumbai Municipal Government of India’s financial center, as of the 20th, more than 1,300 residential buildings in Mumbai had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and more than 70,000 people were required to stay at home.

The Mumbai Municipal Government recently issued stricter pandemic prevention and control regulations.

If five or more confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus are found in a residential building, the whole residential building will be closed, and all residents in the building will be required to stay at home.

According to the previous regulations, the whole residential building needs to be closed only when there are 10 or more confirmed cases in a residential building.

Recently, the number of new confirmed cases in Mumbai has increased significantly, which experts believe is related to the reopening of the suburban railway in early February and the failure of residents to strictly abide by pandemic prevention regulations.

As of the 19th, there were 823 new confirmed cases in Mumbai within 24 hours, with a total of 317,310 confirmed cases.
