January 30th – A Florida worker accidentally turned off the power supply of the refrigerator recently, causing the destruction of more than 1,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine.
On January 22, staff found that the power supply of the vaccine refrigerator was cut off, according to the New York Post.
The refrigerator contains 232 bottles of Pfizer vaccine, a total of 1,160 doses.
Since Pfizer vaccines must be stored at low temperatures in special refrigeration devices, health officials have destroyed them after verifying that they are not available.
Health officials said the accident was unintentional and caused by “man-made mistakes”.
Health officials did not detail how the error occurred, but said other safeguards had been implemented.” One of the additional safeguards is to concentrate all vaccines in one safe place every day and have electric generator backups 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
