February 18 – According to a report by South Korean Radio International (KBS), South Korean President Moon Jae-in accepted the letters of state submitted by eight new ambassadors to South Korea on Qingwatai on the 17th and called on them to actively support the peace process on the Korean Peninsula.

The eight ambassadors who submitted the credentials were from Mongolia, Finland, the European Union, Costa Rica, Israel, Kenya, Nicaragua and Australia.

In meeting with the eight ambassadors, Moon Jae-in said that 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of South Korea’s and North Korea’s simultaneous accession to the United Nations.

The South Korean government will make every effort to engage in dialogue with North Korea to promote the denuclearization and peace of the Korean Peninsula. We hope that ambassadors will continue to actively support it in the future.

Moon also notes that 2021 is a year for everyone to overcome the coronavirus pandemic, but it doesn’t mean more than just going back to the past, but “towards a brand new future through inclusive recovery.” To this end, the international community should cooperate closely and help each other.
