February 19 After attending the talks of leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) on the 19th, German Chancellor Merkel said that the G7 countries believe that a fair and mutually beneficial global economic recovery after the coronavirus epidemic is needed, and the G7 especially hopes to work with the 20 countries in this regard.

The G20 countries cooperate, especially with China.

Merkel attended the G7 leaders’ meeting hosted by the United Kingdom by video on the same day.

After the talks, Merkel made the above statement at a press conference held in Berlin.

Merkel said that the focus of the G7 leaders’ talks on that day included the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, global economic recovery and G7 cooperation with Africa.

She said that if the economy is to prosper again in the post-epidemic era, it is necessary to be in a more sustainable way. Therefore, it is necessary to find not only a solution to overcome the epidemic, but also to find solutions to the challenges of climate change, biodiversity and so on.

The G7 believes that rebuilding the economy requires a fair and mutually beneficial global economic system, Merkel said.

The G7 especially hopes to cooperate with the G20 countries in this regard – especially with China.

In a joint statement released after the meeting on the same day, the Group of Seven said that with the goal of helping all mankind have a fair and mutually beneficial global economic system, the Group of Seven “will cooperate with others, especially with G20 countries that include large economies like China”.

Britain is now the rotating chairman of the Group of Seven.
