Macron: Do not accept the Anglo-European trade agreement that is not in France’s long-term interest.

Reuters on December 1 local time, French President Macron said that in the negotiations on the Anglo-European trade agreement, France paid special attention to the negotiations surrounding the terms of trade and fisheries, and added that if the agreement was not in France’s long-term interests, it would not be accepted.

Macron reportedly met with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Cro in Paris, France, on the same day. He later said at a television press conference: “France will not accept a Brexit agreement that does not respect our long-term interests.”

DeCraux said that the EU and the UK are at the “final moment of the football match”. He added that he thought it was important to reach an agreement, but it would not do anything.

At present, Britain and the European Union are trying to reach a trade agreement to avoid obstacles to their trade at the end of December. However, the Brexit transition period will end on December 31, and the UK has previously said it will not be extended.

Since the trade agreement is finalized and needs to be submitted to the parliaments of both sides for approval, the time left for negotiations between the two sides is very limited.
