According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency on February 20, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov said that the United States was helping Ukraine expand its offensive military capabilities, although Ukraine was not threatened.

Peskov said, “The United States has not covered up their willingness to provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine to help Ukraine expand its offensive military capabilities. The United States is providing such assistance to Ukraine.”

In 2020, the U.S. exported a record $510.6 million of military goods to Ukraine in 2020, according to the Defense Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

In contrast, the export value of previous years was much lower, about $272.5 million in 2019, $250.8 million in 2018, $207 million in 2017, and $226.6 million in 2016.

Between 2016 and 2020, the United States exported about 1.65 billion U.S. dollars of weapons and equipment to Ukraine, and from 1950 to 2015, the United States exported more than 179.2 million US dollars to Ukraine.
