Kissinger was dismissed by the Trump administration
CNN : three Defense Department officials revealed that the Trump administration dismissed some prominent members of the Defense Policy Committee on Wednesday local time. The report believes that this is another purge of long-term foreign policy experts and national security agencies by the Trump administration in the final stage.
The members who were suddenly dismissed include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Henry Kissinger, former senior member of the House Intelligence Committee Jane Harman and former House Majority Leader Eric Canto, two officials said.
The report said that the Defense Policy Committee is an external advisory group composed of former senior national security officials who provide independent advice to the Minister of Defense and Deputy Ministers on defense policy matters.
Officials familiar with the matter said: “As part of a well-thought-out reform, we confirm that some members of the Defense Policy Committee have been dismissed. We are very grateful for their wholehearted service, commitment and contribution to our national security. The committee will soon announce new candidates for these positions.”
Officials also said that the dismissed members also included former Navy Secretary of Operations and retired Admiral Gary Lovehead, former senior Defense Officer Rudy De Leon, and others.
