December 27th local time, Jordanian Health Minister Nazir Obedat confirmed that two confirmed cases of COVID-19 mutant strains were found in the country.

This is the first time that a mutant strain of the novel coronavirus has been found in Jordan.

The infected person is a couple who arrived in Jordan from the United Kingdom on December 19.

Jordan’s Ministry of Health said that both infected people have been quarantined, are in stable health and closely monitored by relevant investigation teams.

It is understood that Jordan has suspended all flights to and from the United Kingdom since December 21 after the emergence of the novel coronavirus variant in the United Kingdom.
