19th May 2021 according to NHK news, the Japanese government in cooperation with the Tokyo Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and visit to Japan’s overseas dignitaries as the object, formulated a draft infection measures, requiring the above-mentioned groups during the visit to Japan to avoid meeting or contact with the country, the region’s Olympians.

Accordingly, overseas dignitaries are required to undergo coronavirus nucleic acid testing before leaving the country and when entering Japan, subject to reducing the number of entourage members, who can be exempted from 14 days of quarantine upon entry into Japan.

Overseas dignitaries visiting Japan as a result of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games should try to shorten their visit to Japan, refrain from using public transport when moving within Japan, in principle move by car to avoid excessive contact with the outside world, and during their visit to Japan, request that they avoid meetings and contacts with Olympic athletes from their home countries and regions.

Worried about infection among overseas dignitaries and media figures during the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Japanese government decided to further discuss and develop a detailed response plan for the infection.
