According to the police office, the number of street crimes was 19,982 (a decrease of 27%), and the number of street crimes decreased significantly after April, with a decrease of 43.2% in May.

Specifically, there were 3,320 cases aimed at vending machines (a decrease of 49.8%) and 878 looting (a decrease of 43.5%). There were 8,934 major crimes (a decrease of 9.7%), of which 930 were homicides (a decrease of 2.1%).

On the other hand, the number of children under the age of 18 suspected of ill-treatment and notified by the police to the children’s counseling increased by 8.9% compared with the previous year, and the number of children exceeded 100,000 for the first time since 2004.

In addition, the number of domestic violence counselling and cybercrime investigations and punishments reached a new high of 8,2641 (an increase of 0.5%) and 9,911 (an increase of 4.1%), respectively.

The number of domestic violence investigations and punishments was 8,701.

The number of follow-up harassment consultations is 20189, and it has maintained a high level of more than 20,000 since 2013.

The Police Department plans to submit an amendment to the Anti-Tracking Harassment Act to this Congress, prohibiting unauthorized installation of satellite positioning system (GPS) equipment.

The average number of suspicious visits to cyberspace detected by the police is 6506.4 per day (an increase of 55.2%), which is analyzed to be affected by the expansion of telecommuting and the increase of Internet of Things devices.

In addition, 13,526 special frauds were seized (a decrease of 19.7%), with losses of 27.78 billion yen (a decrease of 12%).

The police department said: “Social changes such as the fixed new way of life will also affect the crime situation in the future.

Abuse, domestic violence, stalking harassment and other victims may also be potential, which will promote early consultation response and preventive measures.”
