Japan plans to increase defense funds to 30 trillion yen within 5 years

According to the Japan Economic News, the Japanese government will revise the “medium-term defense preparedness plan” at the end of 2022, increasing defense funds to 30 trillion yen for the first time in 5 years, an increase of 3 trillion yen over the current plan, and is currently under adjustment.

The current “medium-term defense preparedness plan” covers the financial year from 2019 to 2023, and determines the strength, size of defense equipment and related budgets of Japan’s troops in the past five years.
