February 16th, Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy, erupted violently, and huge ash columns drifted south with the wind.
As a result, the nearby Catania airport has been temporarily closed, and five arrival and departure flights have been cancelled or prepared to land elsewhere.
The eruption was a crater located in the southeast of the volcano.
Ash rain fell in most of Catania Province, where the volcano is located, and some local residents said they saw 10 centimeters in diameter of stones falling.
To date, no human property damage has been reported.
