Local Moroccan media reported on February 5 that the Italian Consulate General in Casablanca, Morocco, recently issued an announcement announcing that the Italian local government had decided to temporarily suspend sea passenger transportation between Italy and Morocco.

The announcement said that the maritime passenger service between the two countries will be suspended from February 3, and the specific resumption date will be notified separately.

However, the air passenger service between the two countries will continue to operate.

Although the announcement does not explain the specific reasons for the suspension of the maritime transportation between the two countries, the Moroccan media believe that it may be related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morocco has had a second wave of COVID-19 since the end of last year, and it has been gradually under control.

On February 5, there were 712 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Morocco.

So far, Morocco has confirmed 474,379 cases of COVID-19, 453,302 cured and 8,368 deaths. General Station reporter Shan Iming)
