February 2 local time, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Myanmar leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi must be released.
In a statement, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote: “Israel is following the situation in Myanmar and calling for the release of the head of state (Myanmar) Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and other arrested leaders, as well as public figures.
Israel will continue to support the people of Myanmar and the democratization process (in Myanmar), calling for the maintenance of peace, stability and the rule of law in the country (Myanmar) and the prevention of violence.”
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they are maintaining contact with the Israeli Embassy in Yangon, and its staff and their families, as well as Israeli citizens in Myanmar, are currently in good condition.
On February 1, it was reported that the Burmese army overthrew Myanmar’s democratically elected government and arrested Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and others.
