Israel suspends international flights to prevent and control the pandemic

Jerusalem, January 24 Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement on the 24th that the country decided to suspend international flights from midnight on the 25th to the 31st to prevent the spread of mutant coronavirus.

The statement said that Israel will suspend international flights from midnight on the 25th to the 31st, and close the main port of entry, Ben-Gurion International Airport.

During this period, only inbound flights for specific purposes such as freight, emergency medical care, firefighting are allowed to land, but people are prohibited from entering the country.

Except for specific purposes such as emergency medical treatment, legal proceedings, humanitarianism, etc., people are prohibited from leaving the country, and the departure personnel need to be reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on the same day that Israel would take measures to close down in view of the “record infection rate” caused by the mutant coronavirus.

He also said that Israel will take action to “ensure that mass vaccinations are carried out quickly”.

Data released by Israel’s Ministry of Health on the 24th showed that there were 3,155 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the same day, with a total of 596,733 confirmed cases; 66 new deaths, with a total of 4,392 deaths; and 9,899 new cured cases, with a total of 522,368 cures.
