Is it a best seller when published? Former U.S. President Obama’s A Promise Land sold 1.7 million copies in the first week
ABC: Former U.S. President Obama’s memoir Promised Land sold more than 1.7 million copies in its first week of release in North America, and sold well in non-fiction books.
Sales of Promised Land also reportedly include audiobooks and digital e-books. On the 24th local time, Crown magazine announced that it had increased the number of first copies of the book from 3.4 million to 4.3 million copies.
U.S. media pointed out that Obama’s memoir has sold more books than two former presidents of the United States. Former President George W.
Bush’s Choice Moment sold 775,000 copies in its first week of publication, while former President Bill Clinton’s autobiography My Life sold 1 million copies in eight days.
At present, the memoirs of the two former presidents have sold between 3.5 million and 4 million copies.
According to the introduction, Promised Land is the first of two books planned to be published on November 17, and nearly 890,000 copies were sold on its first day.
