by YCPress

February 16 According to an Iranian News TV report on the 16th, the Iranian navy and the Russian navy began a joint exercise code-named “Maritime Seat Belt” in the northern Indian Ocean that day.

The report said that Russia sent a small fleet of a frigate, a supply ship and an armed helicopter gunship to participate in the exercise.

The two sides will drill to combat piracy, anti-terrorism, maritime search and rescue, etc., aiming to strengthen the “collective security” of regional and maritime international trade.

The report also said that the United States has been practicing “military expansionism” in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, and the activities of the U.S. military have exacerbated regional insecurity and instability.

In addition, Hussein Hanzadi, the commander of the Iranian navy, said on the same day that the Indian navy would also participate in the exercise.

However, he did not specify the specific time when India participated in the performance.
