IOC: No official notice has been received of North Korea’s non-participating in the Tokyo Olympic Games

In a statement issued on the 6th, a spokesman for the International Olympic Committee said that the International Olympic Committee had not received an official notice from the North Korean Olympic Committee that it would not participate in the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The spokesman said that the IOC has repeatedly invited the North Korean Olympic Committee to hold teleconferences and plans to discuss relevant issues such as the coronavirus epidemic in North Korea, but the North Korean Olympic Committee did not respond.

Under the Olympic Charter, national and regional Olympic committees are obliged to select their own athletes to participate in the Olympic Games.
