International Olympic Committee President Bach’s visit to Japan ends Japan emphasizes its efforts to “realize the hosting” of the Tokyo Olympics

On the 18th, after the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games were postponed, Bach, the chairman of the International Olympic Committee, who visited Japan for the first time, ended his four-day visit to Japan as planned. During this visit to Japan, Bach and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga jointly expressed their strong desire to “realize the hosting” of the Tokyo Olympics, and the visit has yielded results.

International Olympic Committee President Bach came to Japan for the first time after the Tokyo Olympic Games was postponed due to the impact of Coronavirus pandemic. He held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, and Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori.

Bach and Yoshihide Suga reached an agreement on “realizing the strong desire to host” the Tokyo Olympics , and the Japanese government also publicly stated that it is studying and formulating plans for the participation of Tokyo Olympic audiences.

Under Coronavirus pandemic, Bach’s visit to Japan has strengthened Japan’s confidence and expectations in the preparations for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Japanese side stated that in order to gain citizens’ understanding of hosting the Tokyo Olympics, the main content of the pandemic prevention and control measures will be summarized this year, and the additional Olympic preparation funds that are required due to the postponement will be clarified as soon as possible.
