Overseas Network, October 28. On October 27, local time, a young man clashed with the crowd during the parade of the baptism of God Durga in Munger, Bihar, India. The conflict resulted in 1 death and 27 injuries. The conflict happened the day before the vote in the state assembly.

According to “Hindustan” reported on the 27th, the deceased was identified as 18-year-old Anurag Kumar. After Kumar was shot in the head, the people became furious and fired back at the Kotvari police, causing several people to be injured in the conflict. There are reports that the police used improper force on the young man during the baptism ceremony, which triggered a series of protests.

Subsequently, the Munger government issued two statements to defend the escalating situation. Munger Sergeant Lip Singh said, “During the Durga Statue Immersion Ceremony, some antisocial elements threw stones, and then someone shot in the crowd, resulting in one death and 20 police officers injured.” Munger Local Public Security Official Jesh Mina said that the current situation is completely under control and appealed to the public to ignore rumors.

The Indian Bharatiya Janata Party’s Raja Sabha MP Kesh Sinha called the incident “unfortunate” and it could have been avoided. Suhir, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, asked the Election Commission to immediately determine the incident and take appropriate action in this regard. The police response to the incident is still a focus of controversy throughout the region and on social media.
