According to the Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations Department, on the morning of the 18th local time, the Indian army opened fire for no reason in the

Chirikot area on the Pakistani side of the line of actual control between India and Pakistan, targeting a United Nations vehicle carrying two military observers, causing damage to the vehicle.

Two United Nations staff members in the car were not injured and have been rescued and safely evacuated by the Pakistani army.
