Reuters reported on February 4th that India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that India will provide humanitarian assistance to Myanmar to help the country fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
According to the report, after the sudden change in Myanmar’s political situation, the international community is under increasing pressure on the Myanmar military.
India provided 1.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccine to Myanmar as part of last month’s diplomatic efforts before the Burmese military took over state power.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Srivastava said that India is closely monitoring the situation in Myanmar, but will not stop aid.
“We remain committed to providing humanitarian support to the people of Myanmar to mitigate the health and economic impact of the outbreak,” Srivastava said.
