On December 4th, local time, Escudero, Minister of Public Health of the Madrid, Spain, announced at a press conference that the New Year’s Eve ceremony in public on the evening of December 31, 2020 will be banned, which means that the New Year’s Eve countdown in Madrid’s Gate de Sol Square will be cancelled at the end of each year.

Escudero also announced that the scale of the traditional parade on January 5, 2021, on the Three Kings’ Day, will be greatly reduced. From December 5th local time to January 8, 2021, the Madrid region will take flow-limited measures in densely populated streets and places to avoid crowding.

In addition, due to the improvement of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Madrid region will lift access control measures for 11 basic health areas and 6 municipalities from December 7.
