In order to prevent and control the epidemic, Italy suspends mink farming activities.

The Italian Ministry of Health announced on November 23 that Minister Speranza has signed a regulation to suspend mink farming activities nationwide until the end of February 2021. Also include farmed mink infected with COVID-19 on the list of regulated zoonotic diseases.

The Italian Ministry of Health stressed that compared with other European countries, the number of mink farming in Italy is not large, and this provision is a preventive measure based on the opinions of the Higher Health Council.

According to the regulations, if there is a suspected infection, the relevant local departments should close the farm, prohibit the movement of farm animals, sewage and vehicle equipment, and carry out epidemiological investigations. Once the infection is diagnosed, the mink on the farm will be put down.
