Hurricane “ETA” ravaged the coastal areas of Central America and at least 3 people died

Xinhua News Agency, San Jose, November 4 (Reporter Fan Xiaolin) According to Costa Rican media reports on the 4th, Hurricane ETA raged on the coastal areas of Central American countries such as Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras, killing at least three people.

According to reports, “ETA” began sweeping the coastal areas of many Central American countries on the 3rd. Strong winds and heavy rain caused trees to break, power outages, severe traffic jams, and landslides. 

In the port of Cabezas in northeastern Nicaragua, strong winds overturned the roofs of many homes, trees were uprooted, and the concrete walls of local stadiums were blown down; in Costa Rica, heavy rainfall caused flooding in coastal areas.

So far, mudslides have caused two deaths in Nicaragua; a child was killed by a collapsed house in Honduras.

Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador have all issued hurricane warnings. Nicaragua upgraded the yellow alert to red alert and evacuated about 30,000 people in the areas most affected by “ETA”; about 500 people in Costa Rica were evacuated to 16 emergency shelters; in Honduras, “ETA” caused more than 500 people Homeless.

According to Costa Rica’s National Meteorological Service, “ETA” has weakened into a tropical storm on the morning of the 4th and will continue to move towards the interior of northern Nicaragua and central Honduras.
