Hungarian Foreign Minister: The first regional anti-terrorism center of the United Nations settled in Budapest

On November 24, Hungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Affairs, Sialto, announced on social media that Budapest would become the site of the first regional anti-terrorism center of the United Nations. Sialto stressed that Hungary is committed to the cause of international counter-terrorism, and Hungary’s active participation in United Nations counter-terrorism cooperation “not only in words, but also in action”.

Siarto made the above statement after a videoconference with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Volonkov.

According to the Hungarian news agency, Citing the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Sialto cited the terrorist attack in neighboring Austria earlier this month, saying that the growing terrorist threat in Europe is closely related to illegal immigration. Hungary has played an important role in international counter-terrorism operations and promised to remain the same in the cause of counter-terrorism.

At present, preparations for the establishment of the first regional anti-terrorism center of the United Nations have begun, and it is expected that the Budapest office will open in mid-February next year, when 12 Hungarian and international officials will take office.
